After earlier allowing France to hold a brief lead, the USA have pulled away a little in this men's basketball final.

The NBA-laden U.S. lead 49-41 at the break, led byDevin Booker's 13 points.

Boxing: Golds for Lin and Khalokov in women's 57kg, men's 57kg

The first two finals of the evening in the ring atRoland-Garros have now been completed.

In the first, thewomen's 57kg, Chinese Taipei'sLin Yu-ting took gold over Poland'sJulia Szeremeta, while in the second, themen's 57kg,Abdumalik Khalokov of Uzbekistan beat Kyrgyzstan'sMunarbek Seiitbek Uulu.

Both finals were decided by 5-0 unanimous decisions.

Taekwondo: Arian Salimi wins men's +80kg gold

It's a very tightmen's +80kg taekwondo final, but it's gone 2-1 toArian Salimi of the Islamic Republic of Iran!

Salimi out-manouevres Great Britain'sCaden Cunningham to take the deciding round of that contest and win gold.

Bronzes went toRafael Alba of Cuba andCheick Sallah Cissé of Côte d'Ivoire.

Basketball: France narrowly leading men's final

It would be remiss not to mention the hotly anticipatedmen's basketball gold medal game.

Hosts France have a big, big swell of home support behind them, and it has dragged them a point ahead of hot favourites USA.

The French lead 25-24 with 7:10 left in the second quarter.

Beach volleyball: Anders Mol/Christian Sørum win men's bronze

The men's bronze-medal match between Tokyo 2020 championsAnders Mol/Christian Sørum of Norway and Qatar'sCherif Younousse/Ahmed Tijan has just concluded in straight sets.

Mol and Sørum are leaving Paris with a medal, not quite the one they wanted, but bronze nonetheless after a 21-13, 21-16 win in just 34 minutes.

Wrestling: Golds for Jamalov, Petriashvili, Motoki

A whole bunch of wrestling medals to catch you up on from today, in themen's freestyle 74kg,men's frestyle 125kg, andwomen's freestyle 62kg events.

In the first category, Uzbekistan'sRazambek Jamalov scored a victory by fall against Japan'sTakatani Daichi to win gold. Bronzes went to USA'sKyle Dake and Albania'sChermen Valiev, the latter his country's first Olympic medal.

The 125kg gold went toGeno Petriashvili of Georgia, who won a narrow 10-9 points victory over Islamic Republic of Iran'sAmir Hossein Zare. Bronzes were awarded toTaha Akgul (TUR) andGiorgi Meshvildishvili (AZE).

And finally, in the women's 62kg, Japan'sMotoki Sakura just won gold by technical superiority over Ukraine's Iryna Koliadenko. Bronze medals went toAisuluu Tynybekova (KGZ) andGrace Bullen (NOR).

Breaking: Canada's Phil Wizard wins b-boys gold

What an enthralling end to the b-boys breaking competition!

Aside from perhaps Republic of Korea's Hongten being shocked in the round-robin, the favourites all made it through to the elimination rounds.

Ultimately, it's Canada'sPhil Wizard who wins gold, beating home hopeDany Dann in the gold medal battle by taking all three rounds and 23 of the 27 judges' votes.

Bronze goes to USA's world championVictor, who beat Japan'sShigekix 3-0 as well.

Artistic swimming: People's Republic of China win duet gold

Believe it or not, there werefour sets of twins in the artistic swimming duet event (one of them part of a set of triplets).

And it's the Chinese twinsWang Liuyi and Wang Qianyi who have taken gold. Their free routine wasn't the cleanest, but their big lead from the technical routine was enough to give them a total of 566.4783 points.

Great Britain'sKate Shortman and Isabelle Thorpe took silver on 558.5367, while another set of twins, the Dutch sistersBregje and Noortje de Brouwer, won bronze on 558.3963.

Athletics: USA come close to world record to win women's 4x400m relay gold

It's time for the last stadium event of the athletics programme: thewomen's 4x400m relay final.

Big cheers for Ireland and the Netherlands, as well as Great Britain and of course France.

Athletics: Hamish Kerr wins men's high jump gold in jump-off

McEwen misses at 2.34m and Kerr goes over!

He sets off on a run into the infield and sinks to the ground on his back in the middle of the javelin landing area.

The rest of the high jumpers are applauding him as he runs back to them and hugs McEwen.

Gold for Kerr at 2.36m (2.34m jump-off), silver to McEwen also at 2.36m, and bronze to Barshim at 2.34m.

Athletics: USA win men's 4x400m relay gold

So, time for that relay final as the noise in the stadium picks back up – France are in lane eight.

USA with Rai Benjamin on anchor are in lane four,Botswana withLetsile Tebogo in lane six.

Great Britain in lane seven haveMatt Hudson-Smith running second.

They all get away cleanly. Great Britain have already caught France on the stagger.

And in six, Botswana have caught up too! Botswana from Great Britain at the first change. Here come the USA too!

As they cut to the inside, Botswana lead. Botswana from USA and Great Britain at the second change – all looks clean.

USA'sBryce Deadmon is pulling away on this third leg – but he is visibly tiring now on the straight as they hit the final leg.

It's Tebogo against Benjamin, Botswana against USA! Great Britain are a distant third. The noise is loud, the atmosphere electric!

Around they come for the final stretch and Benjamin only just leads from Tebogo!

Tebogo is closing in – butUSA win in an Olympic record 2:54.43! They came really close to the 31-year-old world record.

Botswana take silver in an African record 2:54.53, Great Britain bronze in a European record 2:55.83.

There was also an Asian record for Japan in sixth in 2:58.33.

Athletics: Men's high jump jump-off goes on

Both men miss their jumps at 2.38m. That means the bar has come down to 2.36m.

McEwen goes first and takes the bar down. If Kerr can clear this, he will be Olympic champion.

So… nearly.

Both men are visibly tired. Down the bar comes to 2.34m.

They will pause here as the men's 4x400m relay final is about to go next on track.

Athletics: McEwen and Kerr to jump-off for high jump gold

In the men's high jump, Barshim missed at 2.38m which means the Qatari takes bronze.

Shelby McEwen has missed all three at that height too, which means ifHamish Kerr can clear it, he will win gold. If he doesn't, we'll be in a tie for first place – just as we were at Tokyo 2020.

And that is exactly the situation we find ourselves in. Kerr runs under the bar.

The two men have a brief chat – they will jump off for gold and silver. They'll start at 2.38m, then work their way down the heights if they cannot be separated.

Athletics: Kitaguchi Haruka wins women's javelin throw gold

We're into the final throws in thewomen's javelin throw final now.

World championKitaguchi Haruka of Japan leads on 65.80m from her first throw right now.

Kitaguchi,Jo-Ane van Dyk (RSA),Nikola Ogrodnikova (CZE), andSara Kolak (CRO) are the only athletes left to throw.

But 2016 Olympic champ Kolak does not improve on her 63.40 and stays fourth. So the medallists are now confirmed.

Likewise no improvement for the Czech athlete, who wins bronze on 63.68m.

Van Dyk, too, cannot go further than her 63.93m best, so the South African takes silver.

World champ Kitaguchi is the Olympic champion. Can she go out with a big final throw? No. But she is the winner with 65.80m.

Athletics: Three men left in high jump final

We're heading towards the climax of the men's high jump final – and just three men remain in contention, meaning we know the identities of the medallists.

New Zealand'sHamish Kerr has cleared 2.36m, equalling the Oceanian record, while USA'sShelby McEwen has also gone over at that height for a new personal best.

Qatar's reigning championMutaz Essa Barshim had no faults until this height, but he has now fouled twice at 2.36m. Remember, he has announced this will be his last Olympic Games.

Italy's Stefano Sottile missed three at 2.36m to finish fourth, and Barshim is now skipping his last outstanding attempt to move to 2.38m.

Athletics: Faith Kipyegon breaks own Olympic record to win women's 1500m

The next final on track is thewomen's 1500m final.

Among the names in this race:Gudaf Tsegay, Diribe Welteji, Faith Kipyegon, Jessica Hull, Laura Muir.

Tsegay has decided to front-run this race. USA'sElle St. Pierre is right behind her.

Kipyegon is now in second as they come back down the straight for the second time of four. The lead group is now eight-strong.

Athletics: Jakob Ingebrigtsen wins men's 5000m gold

Thismen's 5000m final hasn't really kicked into high gear yet.

It's an extremely tactical race, and the runners seem to have decided that positions are more important than times today – it's all about getting those medals.

Three laps to go and there is still a big leading pack. And again at two laps to go.Jakob Ingebrigtsen is towards the front for Norway.
