Major Marine Tours offers daily cruises from March through October, providing various half-day and full-day options to explore the glacially-fed waters of the fjords. The nutrient-rich environment supports diverse wildlife such as whales and puffins, along with stunning calving glaciers. With a focus on Kenai Fjords National Park tours, Major Marine Tours operates 6 to 7.

Wow! Outstanding once in a lifetime experience! Every crew member was absolutely always on point! Very friendly! Extremely knowledgeable and informative! The vessel was spotless and very comfortable. Major Marine Tours is clearly all about the details! The crew all took the time to stop by and wish my wife a Happy Birthday! The celebratory drinks were an unexpected surprise as well. ... Oh and yes! We even saw the wildlife we originally signed up for. Awesomeness at its best! We really hope we get a chance to do this again someday!

We took the six hour tour and it was spectacular. We lucked out with clear blue skies and calm water. The staff were all friendly and knowledgeable. The captain worked hard to make our tour interesting and fun. The lunch that was included was good. We saw so many different animals and enjoyed every minute of the trip.

Karrie C — Google review

We went out on a very foggy day and still had a great 6 hour sightseeing experience. We were a little nervous about the weather but we were able to see some of Alaska’s rarest animals on the same day, even in the fog.We got to see Orca pods, Fin whales, Humpbacks, Goats, Puffins, Eagles and lots more. As well as a glacier! Great tour, highly recommended. Staff was awesome and friendly.

An awesome tour of Resurrection Bay and the Kenai Fjords. The captain took us to see puffin, sea lions and humpback whales! She even dropped the sounder so we could hear the whales talk!!! The crew was friendly and the service was great. Highly recommend taking the cruise.

Todd C — Google review

This tour was absolutely incredible. Everything we set out to see, we did! Porpoise, whales, eagles, sea lions, mountain goats and more. Such an amazing experience. The team on the boat was truly excellent. They were all very informative, providing insights about everything we were seeing throughout the entire trip. Thank you all so much!!

Graig F — Google review

We are a family of 5 and just did the 7.5 hour tour today. It was absolutely amazing. We saw sea otters, killer whales, humpback whales, puffins, sea lions, beautiful glaciers, black bear and more. The boat was in immaculate condition and seemed brand new. The crew was excellent as well (especially Caleb and Jordan). They were attentive, helpful, professional, and fun. This is by far the best tour in Seward. A must if you are visiting Alaska. We would highly recommend it to anyone!

Nathan O — Google review

We took the 4 hour wildlife cruise and we indeed saw wildlife! Humpbacks whales, mountain goats, sea otter, and puffins. The snacks and drinks to purchase on the boat were great. If anything, I felt a little over crowded by the amount of people on the boat. Shout out to the worker Zachary for sending me a video of a humpback whale we saw, really appreciate it!

Melissa S — Google review

I did the 8.5 hour adults only Northwestern Fjord tour. My expectations were exceeded in every way! Whales, sea lions, seals, puffins, sea otters, etc. I checked off every box I was hoping for, and others! I can’t say enough good things about the captain and crew. They were very knowledgeable about the wildlife and terrain. I was super impressed by the captain’s skillful maneuvering of the boat, making sure we were always right where the action was. Though the boat was full, it did not seem crowded. I never had to jostle through others to get a clear shot with my camera. Dress warm so you can spend as much time as possible out on the decks. Definitely bring good binoculars. The included lunch consisted of a big sandwich, chips, a cookie, and a drink. Other snacks and drinks were available for purchase. A fantastic way to spend a day in Seward. You won’t be disappointed!

Great staff, even better views! We took the 6 hour cruise as part of our vacation package with Salmon Berry Tours. All of the staff members were really friendly. My son and I both started feeling a little seasick part of the way through the trip and the staff went out of their way to help us. They brought us ginger ale and vomit bags (which thankfully we didn't end up needing) and came back to check on us a few times. The captain of the boat was great at spotting wildlife (we saw whales, puffin, seals, sea lions, otters, and various birds). The whales were a bit elusive, but she allowed us to sit and wait for several minutes to ensure we saw them. It was an awesome tour, and I would highly recommend it...even if you do get sea sick!

L S — Google review

I don't know what they feed their employees, but whatever it is, it made them all super welcoming, polite and mega helpful. Or maybe they just are naturally...Oh yeah the 7-1/2 hour tour we took was fantastic, the captain stopped for orcas, puffins, eagles, and sea otters. Glaciers were up close, and they took care to avoid rough seas as much as possible (nature will be nature, there might be rough spots)All in all, a great voyage.

My husband and I took the 7.5-hour glacier and wildlife cruise on Aug. 30 and had a wonderful time! We took the Spirit of Adventure, which was a large boat, that had plenty of indoor space to get warm and dry, and outdoor space to feel the ocean breeze, and see the sights. We were fortunate that the boat was only about half full.We saw eagles, sea otters, Stellar sea lions, and puffins. We saw two glaciers from up close. So beautiful! We greatly appreciated the complimentary coffee and tea. The included lunch was delicious.I thought 7.5 hours might feel like too long, but it was such a great experience that the time flew by. I would definitely sail on them again.

Gina P — Google review

The best cruise I ever had. I did 6 hour cruise and everything is fantastic. We had a vegetarian sandwich and turkey sandwich both tasted delicious. We saw a sea otter, whale, killer sharks, mountain goats and few other wild lives. Best experience. Glacier view was spectacular.

Kiranmai A — Google review

Major Marine Tours literally made my dream of seeing an orca in the wild come true. Not only did we see and spend time with orcas, but we also spotted humpbacks, Stellar sea lions, otters, puffins, and eagles. Captain Tammy was incredibly informative, sharing knowledge in a memorable and engaging way. The entire crew was accommodating and friendly. The boat was spacious yet allowed us to feel close to the water. I will definitely do this again on my next trip to Seward.

Melissa S — Google review

We were traveling in Alaska and booked this outing. All of us were extremely happy with the entire experience. The crew and, of course, the captain were truly great. The captain's narration was helpful and detailed. We were also able to see a wide variety of wildlife and it was amazing. We also viewed many glaciers and experienced calving. The food for lunch was fresh and delicious. The entire trip was a wonderful experience that you should not pass up. You will be delighted and cherish the memories and your photos.

BRUCE W — Google review

Absolutely amazing experience! 10 out of 10 recommend. We did the 3.5 hour wildlife tour and had a blast. The ship has two stories and we were on the second. There was plenty of room for everyone to have rail space and see wildlife. The crew was funny and very nice. They even walk around and offer to take your picture for you. I would do the same cruise or a longer one next time I’m in the area

Jonathan P — Google review

Such a great tour! We went on the 4 hour one and wish we would have gone longer. We saw so many beautiful animals and views! Absolutely breathtaking. The crew was friendly and knowledgable. The boat was clean. They had binoculars for you to borrow and use for the duration of the boat ride. It does get a little colder considering you will be moving so I would plan on bringing an extra jacket just as backup. There is space on the boat you can sit and mark as your family’s territory so you won’t feel bad if it’s warmer than expected and you had to lug a jacket around. They had hot chocolate and coffee, snacks at the dock complimentary and some food for purchase on board. You can bring your own food, however(:

Excellent 6 hr tour of Resurrection Bay AND the Gulf of Alaska. Our captain Laura was so knowledgeable on all things marine life, geology, weather, and more. The staff was so helpful and accommodating. I LOVED the co*cktail options as well 🍹We saw orcas, humpback whales, harbor seals, sea otters, both types of Puffins and other seabirds, Stellers Sea Lions, and more!!Once in a lifetime experience- will be recommending to others!!

Lauren W — Google review

We did the 6.5 hour kenai fjord NP cruise on 7/30. We did this same cruise two years ago but this time was far superior. We saw glacier calving, humpback whales bubble net feeding, sea lions, puffins (both kind), 2 bald eagles, jellyfish, mountain goat, sea otters, starfish, etc. At one point, the whales were 50 feet from the boat. It was an incredible experience all around and I’m so glad we went again! They offer 20% off for repeat customers making it an even better deal.

Matt D — Google review

We took the 4 hour Wildlife Cruise and weren’t disappointed at all. The crew were all extremely friendly and helpful. The coffee was yummy. The cruise to our first point so relaxing. We did see whales, puffins, sea lions, sea otters, jellyfish and a ton of cool birds. Next time, glacier tour!!!

Steven P — Google review

We did the 6 hour Kenai fjords National Park cruise. It was absolutely amazing!! Can’t recommend enough. We went mid-late May and saw 2 whales, several orcas, puffins, porpoises, seals, doll sheep and a black bear. I think that was everything!! The trip to the glacier was amazing- saw calving several times while we were there. And so close!! Glacier ice co*cktails were amazing! The seas were rough on the way out - they gave us plenty of notice and had everything you could buy to help prevent sea sickness. But it definitely wasn’t for the faint of heart. We were all fine - but some were sick. So definitely consider that when booking and if you are worried - listen to the staff and take the meds! All the employees were super friendly and helpful. Captain did a great job navigating in rough seas and she did a lot of educational narrative too!! Truly an amazing experience- so glad we did it!!

SUPER AWESOME!!From booking to the time we boarded our boat, I never had a problem with any of it! The day we arrived to board the boat, we were greeted by Captain Tanner and he was nothing short of amazing ALL DAY! He made sure my handicapped father made it on and off the board with ease and doing it all with a smile! He and all of his crew were absolutely fabulous! The awesome wildlife we saw (and we saw a lot) the scenery, ALL OF IT…….highly recommend! If you want an awesome tour guide, Tanner is your guy!

Jenny T — Google review

One of the best days of my life. We saw dozens of whales, puffins, seals, sea lions, jellyfish, glaciers, waterfalls, and more. I recommend staying at the top of the boat to really taking it all in. Pack layers for warmth even in the summer.

Ash K — Google review

Gorgeous day on the water and saw all we had hoped for; Humpback & Fin whales, Dall’s Porpoises, sea otters, harbor seals, sea lions, mountain goats, puffins, eagles and more! We did the Northwest Glacier tour and we enjoyed every minute of the 8.5 hours. Captain John was very knowledgeable and kept us informed as we went. Deckhands Una and Carrie were great and helped with whatever was needed. Would definitely do this again.

Jeff B — Google review

This was the best wildlife tour I have been on..Captain Gary and his crew were amazing.Saw a pod of humpbacks, we stopped the boat for about 20-30 mins and just watch them feed. Witnessed bubble feeding although I did not get a photo. At the glacier we saw the calving of the glacier and although scary to think they are melting it was a powerful experience hearing them.We able to see otters, one with a baby, stellar sea lions, puffins(two species), 4 humpback whales, mountain goat, cormorants, oyster catcher, eagles, and seals. The boat interior was very nice, chairs were cushioned (reserved a table with our reservation). The outside chairs were plenty and facing in all directions for everyone to see.The sandwich was more than we were expecting. The bun was soft not soggy. There was plenty meat on the sandwich! The bar selection was great and got a margarita made with actually glacier ice!Had a person with low mobility and she had no issues going up the stairs and the staff made sure to assist her if needed. There was a person in a wheelchair on the bottom deck and she was able to enjoy the views as the captain turned the boat to all side at each stop for everyone to be able to look out the windows and see the same animals.I would love to go back out with this group.

Vanessa S — Google review

Amazing! Wonderful! Terrific!Words can not express how much I loved our 7.5 hour tour with Major Marine! We had perfect weather the day of our cruise, and we were fortunate to see wildlife, glaciers, and enjoy the knowledge of our captain and deck hands. Definitely recommend, provided you don't get sea-sick!!

Joni F — Google review

What an amazing tour! The boat was awesome, all the staff was amazing—we saw so many different animals (including a humpback whale!) and the scenery was amazing. The spring 4 hour tour I went on was worth EVERY penny!!!

Lexi L — Google review

Loved this tour! We went at kind of an odd time of year (Last week in April), but we still saw a humpback whale blowing and surfacing many times; a sea otter diving, snacking, and being cute; a harbor seal resting on a rock and looking adorable; many stellar seals barking loudly while sunning themselves on rocks, lots of sea birds, and probably one or two other animals I'm forgetting.I got a little bit queasy at one point, and the crew was so kind. They even gave me some ginger chews to settle my stomach.I would definitely do this tour again.

Rebekah P — Google review

This trip was excellent! We did the 7.5 hour Fjord Tour so we got to see both major glaciers and it was such an incredible experience to be in the presence of the glaciers. Along the way we got to see some awesome wildlife and the Captain always made sure to alert us to it, give us time to see it, and find the best angles for us to see it. I also really enjoyed the lunch, drinks, and brownies provided. And the drinks for purchase at the bar were a really nice touch and a really nice way to start the morning with a hot spiked coffee, a hot chocolate to warm us up midway, and we loved the virgin margaritas with the Glacier ice! All of the staff were super friendly and helpful. I also really enjoyed that the boat wasn't overcrowded so we always had room to see and spread out for comfort. The day we went out at the start of June, the water was a little rough but the crew made sure we had all taken Bonine, the captain did an excellent job navigating the water so it wasn't as rough as it could have been, and the crew was very prepared for if people got seasick and making sure we were prepared if we started feeling sick. They have ginger ale, ginger chews, and additional Bonine available for purchase if needed. It was also nice that they had free coffee available and binoculars on the boat for use during the day. Next time we are in Alaska we will be sure to do another tour with Major Marine!

We did the 7.5 hour tour and had a great day on the water! We saw so many animals and glaciers, my favorite was the sea otter and we also saw the glacier calving which was very cool! And many humpback whales. Plus a ton of other wildlife. Tanner the captain and all the staff (Carson, Miles, Lia, etc) were great - friendly and helpful and Tanner’s narration allowed us to learn a lot of cool facts. Definitely recommend! The margarita with glacier ice was so fun too. It was chilly on the top deck even in mid-June, so bring warm clothes. Definitely worth it to spend most of the cruise outside though!

We were fortunate enough to get to go on day one of the season on a clear day in Seward. Seen lots of wildlife including porpoises and humpback whales. Amazing tour with a great staff!

Mike C — Google review

Did two different tours during our visit to Seward. Both tours ended up being great. Personally enjoyed the longer tour we took more, but part of the was the wildlife we happened to be able to see.I wish there was better communication throughout the ticket buying process and especially the boarding process. Not very friendly for people with invisible illnesses honestly as they assign seating as you get on the boat meaning you have to wait in line to be on the lower level and those of us with these struggles know how hard it can be to try to explain you have a disability if you're not in a wheelchair.Besides that, the tours were great! Shorter tour had less info which was another reason I preferred the longer tour.Definitely recommend them, just make sure you communicate your needs to staff.

Brittany L — Google review

Went on the six hour tour, and it was amazing! Definitely worth the price. The captain provided a great commentary talking about history, Glaciers, and all the wildlife. We saw sea otters, three orca whales, a humpback whale and her calf, sea lions, many birds, even some puffins early in the season. Lunch was included and the vegetarian option was a hummus sandwich with veggies. Pretty views, we got up close to a glacier, it was great even in the rain.

Cailah D — Google review

FANTASTIC! My family just finished the 7.5 hours fjord tour and we are very happy. The captain and the crew were excellent in every way. Customer service was top shelf, from handing out ginger candies in the rough seas to education about us. Lunch was seamless. In contrast to my previous tour cruise experience food and drink on board was very reasonable. My Bloody was delicious as was our "Glacier margueritas"!Along the way we saw whales, orcas, a black bear, mountain goats, seals and sea lions... in addition to the fjords and glaciers.Highly recommend this company and tour! Look forward to doing it again!

Kraig M — Google review

Wow, wow, wow I cannot speak more highly of this tour. Our captain was INCREDIBLE! She was so knowledgeable with all the marine life facts. Anytime she saw wildlife, she would stop and explain. Her crew was just as amazing. They were always so helpful and kind. They were all very enthusiastic and happy the whole time. The lunch was very good for having to feed so many people. The sights we saw were beautiful beyond words.I HIGHLY recommend this tour! We did the 6 hour tour and felt like we got what we expected out of it.Make sure to bundle up and dress warm...gloves and hat are a must! The wind gets pretty cold.

Oana C — Google review

WOW!!! Everything from the wildlife to the staff to the boat itself were above and beyond.First: The boat is incredible. It's an immaculate 3 level catamaran. It is filled with spacious booths with comfy seating. There was essentially a little cafe on the main floor with snacks and all kinds of beverages. There is complimentary coffee, tea, and water. A generous lunch was also provided. The captain was an amazing guide and was very knowledgeable. We saw orcas, sea otters, harbor seals, sea lions, puffins, bald eagles, a peregrine falcon, and lots of other sea birds. The glaciers were incredible. When you hear the deep, booming cracks as gravity pulls them towards the sea you are very humbled to be in the presence of something so massive and ancient and powerful.I'd do this tour every day if I could!!!

I went on the 4 hr tour a couple days ago and it was awesome. I had Cpt. Tanner, First Mate Rowen, Deck Hand Dalton, and Carrie. They were phenomenal and awesome to talk to and listen to. I have worked in multiple AZA facilities and I used to be a conservation engagement instructor at one of those facilities and even though I knew some of the information that was being given out the way they presented it made me entertained and made me want to continue listening. And if anybody knows anything about public speaking and educating, that is a very hard thing to do when somebody already knows the information. Trying to keep their attention but they were so charismatic and great people that I highly recommend this tour. I will have nothing but great things to say about these four and I'm sure all of Major Marine is like this and if they're even a fraction as good as these four were then they're not going to be hurting anytime soon. Again, I appreciate literally all of them and even the person at the check-in who was Malakai was awesome. Hopefully I got everybody's name right because I meant to do this on the day of but I forgot to but it was still an awesome experience and I will probably be doing it again soon.

Lo recomiendo si o si, es un must a quienes visiten Alaska.(Translated by Google)The tour was incredible! I recommend it yes or yes, it is a must for those who visit Alaska.

We did the 7.5 hr tour and had such an amazing time! Captain and crew were wonderful! Saw so many beautiful places and animals. The ship had complimentary coffee and tea and binoculars to borrow. Several options for drinks and snacks to purchase, as well as some merchandise. The deli lunch was really good and had gluten free options.

We took a 7.5 hr boat tour in the 3rd week of August.First of all, Major marine tours are very accommodating. We requested a table which is near the door so that we can easily access the deck without crossing many people and they fulfilled our wish. Captain was knowledgeable and took detours in search of animals.Coming to Views, they were breathtaking, amazing & truly magical! We saw Bear glacier from afar, Holgate glacier where the boat stopped for 30 min for clicking pictures & any ice calvings (but nothing happened near Holgate glacier) and then we were stopped for more than an hour near Aialik glacier (We saw ice calving, hundreds of seals & sea lions on floating ice). We also saw Orca whales, Humpback whales, puffins, dall sheep, sea otters.Lastly, Weather was perfect and the water was not rough. But, I have sea sickness. So I got sick even after taking dramamine and got better after having Ginger Ale that they served along with lunch. If you have sea sickness, highly recommend drinking Ginger Ale during tour & taking dramamine before boat tour. I am vegetarian. They served a bun with tomatoes, greens inside, a small box of hummus, cheese, chips, a drink and a granola bar for lunch.I will not say lunch is excellent but still better for a vegetarian. My husband took Turkey burger, chips, a granola bar & a drink.(He said it is good). In the evening, they gave brownie which was delicious!Overall, we had an amazing experience! Will definitely recommend it.

Awesome! We were on a 2 week tour of Alaska, on our own, celebrating milestone birthdays. We scheduled the 6 hour Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise. Because of rough seas Captain Laura wasn't sure we would be able to go to AialikGlacier. But the seas calmed enough and were able to observe the beautiful glacier. Unfortunately, we did not see any whales or puffins. We knew ahead of time that it was late in the season. But we did see eagles, seals, sea lions, and gorgeous scenery. Captain Laura and her staff were extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. We highly recommended Major Marines and thoroughly enjoyed our cruise.

This is a comfortable, well organized tour deparing from Seward. We were there in September and lucked out, having a sunny day for our our six hour tour.We saw Orca Whales and numerous other wild life. For me seeing a glacier up close was the best part of the trip.Comfortable assigned seating inside, and open seating on deck (for those that like it cool and breezy). On-board bar and food was good. The captain gave us an informative ride, and definitelymade an effort to sight whales - which she did.Highly recommend this tour.

Wayne O — Google review

Major marine did a great job for our tour. First, due to tough water today, we were informed that the 7.5 hour cruise was cancelled. However we are provided with this 4 hour tour within a safer water area. Initially we didn't hold high expectations about this trip but we were wrong. The captain knows the water very well, he guided us to all the animal habits and possible whale locations. We saw humpback whales, harbor seals, dolphins and many other animals. Lunch was provided and soft drinks as well. You don't need bring expensive binoculars since they are complimentary (Nikon brand). But be aware - it's cold and choppy waves out in the open water. So bring you water proof winter gears and seasick medicine with you then you are all set.Again thanks to the crew of Spirit of Matushka. Well done and we will come back again!

We had an amazing day on the water. Beautiful weather, lots of wildlife eagles, sea lions, otters, whales 2-3 kinds, bears, mountain sheep, porpoises, Calving of glaciers. The crew was super nice and Capt Nate was the best! Definitely worth it. We did 7.5 hour tour. The lunch was pretty good too.
